Maureen Patricia Ortiz

Maureen Patricia Ortiz- 68 of Kansas City, Kansas passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on April 24, 1958, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Maureen was the beloved daughter of Edward and Mary Martin. She was united in marriage on March 24th, 1979 to Juan Ortiz Sr.. Maureen dedicated her career to serving those in need as an Outreach Coordinator for Unbound, where her compassion and generosity touched countless lives. While she enjoyed many hobbies—including completing puzzles, antiquing, treasure hunting at garage sales and shopping—nothing brought Maureen greater happiness than spending time with her family. She expressed her love through the meals she lovingly prepared, the traditions she created, and the memories she made with those she cherished most. Family vacations, especially trips to Cape Cod were among her favorite times. Maureen faithfully cheered for the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics- rarely missing an opportunity to support her favorite teams. Her greatest legacy is the love she poured into her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the heart of her family—a steady source of encouragement, warmth and unconditional love whose presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered. She is preceded in death by her husband Juan Ortiz Sr., parents Edward and Mary Martin & brother Jack Martin. She is survived by her children Jason Ortiz Sr., Melissa Ortiz, Juan Ortiz Jr., Tamara DùB’ose, and D'Andre Parks; her grandchildren Kiala Billingsley, Dominic Ortiz, Shamya Green, Aaliyah Billingsley, Naliya Miller, Jayla Billingsley, Micah Kimble, Nevaeh Kimble, Kamrin Parker, Trinity Ortiz, Ahmayra Jackson, Juan Ortiz III, Aaron Miller, Myron Jackson Jr., Rykella Miller, Olivia Ortiz, Jason Ortiz Jr., Malcolm Ortiz; her great-grandchildren Willie White III, Kakashi Billingsley-Matthews, Leilani White, Amiri Eugene, Sophia Ortiz, Ashure Billingsley-Matthews and TaKobe Ray. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Maureen's life during a visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Friday July 17, 2026, at Maple Hill Funeral Home 3300 Shawnee Dr in KCK- Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. with burial immediately following at St. John Catholic Cemetery, 8900 Pflumm Rd. Lenexa, Kansas.
