Michael Joseph Rocha

Michael “Mike” Joseph Rocha passed away Sunday June 8, 2025 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born February 17, 1952 in Rosedale, KS to Maude Emma Cazzell and Carlos Delgado Rocha. Mike was a proud lifelong resident of Rosedale KS, and was always proud of his family and where he came from. He was 8th out of 9 siblings Carl, Marie, Sue, Johnny, Ruthie, Sandy, Jimmy, and Bobby. Attended Whitmore school Graduated in 1971 from Rosedale High where he played basketball and football. After graduation he went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company now known as AT&T soon after. He was a dedicated worker and retired in April of 2011 after 40 years. Mike married his best friend and the love of his life Brenda Purinton August 19, 1977. This August would have been a total of 48 years together and they were definitely looking forward to making it to the big “50” years of marriage together. They’ve made many memories and built a strong family and life together which was one of his biggest accomplishments and biggest enjoyments of life. He enjoyed spending time at his Lake House at the Lake of Ozarks, Ivy Bend. Fishing and being outdoors was one of the things he loved to do with family. He never met a stranger and loved everyone he ever met. Helping others and being kind was always something he insisted on doing throughout his lifetime. Mike also enjoyed Chiefs football, KU basketball, Royals baseball and NASCAR racing. The most joy of Mike’s life was being a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and making sure everyone around him was safe, happy and loved. Some of Mike's best moments of his life were watching his grandson play sports throughout his school and college days and spending time making memories with his granddaughters. Mike will be loved and missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maude and Carlos, siblings Jimmy, Johnny, Bobby, Carl, Sue Dugan and Marie Lange. He is survived by wife Brenda Rocha, son Joseph Rocha, daughter Christy Rocha (Terrance), grandkids Terrance Jr, Leigha, and Jazmin Johnson. Great grandsons TeeNoh and Takari Johnson. Sisters Ruthie (Gary) Cook and Sandy (Mark) Schoaf. Brother in law Jim Purinton Jr. Along with a host of extended family members, friends and neighbors locally and at the Lake of the Ozarks. Mike loved his family more than anything and they loved him all the same. “We will miss you forever.” Mike’s wishes were to be cremated, no services planned at this time.
