Nondis W. Fisher

Nondis W. Fisher, 93, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Anthology of Olathe. She was born December 9, 1930 in Cheney, KS the daughter of Clyde and Dora Krase. After her father’s unexpected passing, she and Dora continued to reside in Cheney. Living in a small town meant that she had the support of her close-knit family nearby, which allowed her to form strong connections with her aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. She graduated from Wichita North High School in the class of 1948. On May 21, 1949, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Grover Fisher. Beginning her professional journey at Southwestern Bell as a phone operator, Nondis steadily climbed the career ladder, ultimately retiring as an executive assistant after dedicating 35 years to the company. Among her career highlights was being selected as one of two state Southwestern Bell Princesses, pivotal in promoting the Princess telephone. She loved her coworkers and stayed in touch with them through organizations such as the Southwestern Bell Pioneers. Known for her timeless elegance and a touch of sass, Nondis was meticulous about her appearance, always impeccably groomed whenever she ventured out. Her interests included card games and active participation in various social activities. A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Shawnee, Nondis found joy in worshiping alongside her church family. Before moving to Shawnee she was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Wichita and enjoyed working with the youth alongside Grover. Above all, family held the utmost importance to Nondis. She treasured moments spent with her daughter, grandchildren, and extended family. Nondis' warmth and love endeared her to all who crossed her path. Her presence will be deeply missed by those fortunate enough to have known her. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Grover Fisher and parents Clyde and Dora Krase. She is survived by daughter, Kay Fisher; grandchildren, Jeffrey Clyde Zook and John James Britz III; bonus daughter Brenda Vandenhull (Jim); sister-in-law Emra Mathis; brothers-in-law Larry Mathis and Bruce Edwards; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and her “Sweet Sweet” fur baby Willow. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM with services beginning at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Shawnee. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM Monday, April 15, 2024 at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Norwich, KS. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Meals on Wheels program (JC Home Delivered Meals 11811 S. Sunset Drive #1300 Olathe, KS 66061).
