Patricia Marie Vickers

Patricia Marie Vickers, 96, died August 10, 2025 after a brief illness. Patricia (Pat) was born 12/22/1928 in Fargo, North Dakota, the only child of Julia and Walter Reighley. She was the loving wife and companion of Rod R. Vickers for 59 years. He passed January 29, 2010 after a brief illness. She was a stay home Mom until her children left home for college and the military. In 1968 she and Rod purchased Baskin Robbins Ice Cream store on the Country Club Plaza where she became the manager. For several years, she enjoyed the parade of Kansas Chiefs players who stopped in after having custom suits made by Verl Custom Tailors, a neighbor on the same block. In 1977 they sold the business. Pat was a devoted Mother and supported her children’s activities in the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts, sports, and outdoor adventures. She is survived by son Brent Vickers (Sandra Welsh) of Overland Park KS., daughter Linda V Taylor (David) of Grand Junction, CO, and granddaughter Rachel Vickers of Cleveland Ohio. She is also survived by sister-in-law Vicki (RuthAnn) and husband Hunter Carr of Houston TX. Cousins Jerry (Greta) Crowe of Grand Rapids MN, and Erik (Gretchen) Larson of Meadowlands MN. She is blessed by many nieces and nephews; Mike (Lynn) Vickers of Bonita Springs, FL, Jenee (Mike) Kernan of Prairie Village, KS, Max (Annette) Vickers of Overland Park KS, Kyle Campbell of Houston, TX, Kara (Kelley) Kirker of Houston TX, Donna (Jim) Peters of Basehor KS, Scott (Becky) Vickers of Eudora KS, Valerie (Kevin) Husbands of Olathe, KS, and Kevin Anderson. She is preceded in death by her loving In-Laws and their spouses: Rex Vickers and wife Alma, Roger Vickers and wife Towanda, Ronald Vickers and wife Ruby, Ramona Anderson and husband Gene. She was cared for by the staff at Brookdale Rosehill Nursing Home for the last several years. We thank them for their compassionate care. Funeral Services will be held on Monday August 18th at Maple Hill Funeral Home, 3300 Shawnee Drive with burial to follow. Visitation is from 10-11 on Monday with services and graveside interment at 11. A lunch will be served in the State room at 12 at Maple Hill.
