Robert Allen “Bobby” Lopez, Jr., affectionately known to many as Booney, passed away on July 14, 2025, in Kansas City, Kansas. He was 37 years old. Born on April 14, 1988, in Kansas City, Kansas, Bobby spent his life surrounded by the people and places he loved most. From a young age, he had an infectious energy that drew others to him. Whether you knew him as Booney, Boondocks, or Bobby, he always greeted you with a warm smile and a kind or funny word. His presence lit up every room he entered and left lasting impressions on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. Bobby was deeply devoted to his family and friends. His chest tattoo—“family over everything”—was more than just ink; it was a guiding principle that shaped how he lived his life. He cherished time spent with loved ones and friends and made sure they always felt valued and supported. He is survived by his father Robert Lopez Sr., mother Karen Lopez, sister Angel Lopez and his beloved dog, Diesel "Papas" Lopez. Their lives were enriched by Bobby’s unwavering love and loyalty. He was preceded in death by his grandparents—Angel Cervantes, Carol Cervantes, Joseph Segura, and Valentina Segura. A passionate athlete, Bobby found joy on the baseball and softball diamonds. He thrived in the camaraderie of team sports and relished the bonds formed through shared victories and challenges. A devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan, he loved cheering on his team at Arrowhead Stadium or gathering with friends to watch games—always bringing enthusiasm and laughter to every moment. Bobby was also a devout KU fan and enjoyed watching both KU basketball and football. Since his passing, Bobby’s family has been deeply moved by the outpouring of stories and tributes from those whose lives he touched. Each memory shared is a testament to the kindness of his soul and the joy he brought into the world. May Bobby's memory always bring comfort to all who knew him. This is not goodbye, just "until I see you again". May you find peace and comfort in the afterlife, Booney. We all love you and will miss you dearly. Rest in peace. A wake service will be held on July 24, 2025, from 06:00 PM to 08:00 PM at Maple Hill Funeral Home, 3300 Shawnee Drive. The funeral service will be held on July 25, 2025, 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 2910 Strong Avenue. As Booney was a huge Chiefs, Royals and Jayhawks fan and hated dress clothes, the family would love it if you would attend both the wake and funeral in your sports gear. Booney would have loved the celebration of his favorite teams.
