Rosa Maria Valadez

Rosa Maria Valadez (Camacho), 74, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on December 31st, 2025 at home surrounded by loving family. Rosa was born November 20th, 1951 in Mexico City, Mexico, the daughter of Juan Botello Valadez and Vacilia Maria Florido. She described her childhood in Mexico as sublime. From the food, culture, her community, she made sure to bring that love and camaraderie to all she encountered. Rosa graduated from República Mexicana, continuing on to earn a secretarial certification in Mexico from a bilingual secretary school. In 1966, she was a primary flag bearer, which is a great honor in Mexico. At her mother's urging, she came to the United States in 1970 to attend schooling for nursing but fell in love with the future father of her children, Phillip Camacho in 1971, therefore changing the trajectory of her life plans. Rosa Valadez was married to Phillip Raymond Camacho JR at Our Lady of Guadalupe on January 26, 1974 in Kansas City, MO. They were married for 23 1/2 years. Together they had six beautiful children, bringing them up in the Catholic faith, which was very important for both. Rosa was a devout Catholic. She attended St. Agnes Parish as well as Holy Trinity, where she made so many long-lasting friendships through her time of worship. In order to provide for her family, Rosa worked as a cake decorator at Judy's bakery, IGA, Price Chopper, and Sam's Club. She also worked at Macy's (Jones Store) as a sales associate. In her later years she worked at Holiday Greenwood Terrace and Lakeview Village retirement homes. She treasured the many friendships she made at work. Unfortunately, due to health reasons, Rosa was forced to retire and it was one of the hardest decisions she ever had to make. She, as well as the rest of her family, was proud to say she became an American Citizen in 2010. She was able to study and pass tests that her own American born children wouldn't even pass. Rosa's most devoted role was being a mother, even to those who lacked that maternal bond. She was especially talented in arts, cooking, baking, gardening and crafts. Although she was never boastful of her talents, she was always willing to teach anyone who shared an interest in learning. She often donated many hours helping others and making cakes as gifts for special occasions. Her tamales were legendary with family and friends. So many people would rush to put in an order for them, this usually ended with her making dozens upon dozens all by herself to make sure there was enough for everyone. She was selfless that way, using her time, money and energy to help and please others. Although Phillip and Rosa divorced in 1997, she remained close to her in laws and her nieces and nephews from marriage. They also remained cordial coparents and put their children first when it came to making holidays and family functions unified. Together, they worked to make sure both sides of the family could come together to feel included and loved. Remaining to cherish Rosa’s memory are her siblings: Juan Valadez (Graciela Garcia) and Felipe Valadez. Children: Dominic Camacho (Leslie Camacho), Vanessa Camacho, Damion Camacho (Kelly Galvin), Rose Schulze (Jon Schulze II), Phillip John Camacho, Vincent Camacho; Grandchildren: Anthony Camacho, Angel Hutsell (Shane Hutsell), Ariana Camacho (Tyler Dunaway), Amaya Camacho, Katelynne Little (Jake Little) Gabriel Camacho, Rylei Camacho, Phillip Camacho Jr. and Jon Schulze III, ; Great Grandchildren: Clayton Hutsell, Oakleigh Hutsell, Elena Little, Nora Little, Eleanore Keithley and Bronx Conner-Keithley; Grand-dog: Alfie Otis; Nephew and Nieces: Jesus William Valadez, Hansel Alfredo Valadez, Juan Manuel Valadez, Adriana Valadez, Idania Michel Valadez, Felipe Valadez, Isaac Valadez; She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan Valadez & Vacilia Maria Florido. Brothers, Angel Valadez and Alfredo Valadez. Daughter in law, Leslie Camacho; Grandson, Michael Schulze; nephew Jose Antonio Valadez A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM followed by graveside services Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Maple Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery.
