Theresa Catherine Reyes

Theresa Catherine Reyes, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025 at the age of 91. She was born January 27, 1934 in Kansas City, KS to Guadalupe Segura and Delphina (Montes) Segura. A graduate of Wyandotte High School, Theresa married her loving life partner Raymond M. Reyes on October 24, 1959. Theresa and Raymond spent the majority of their married life raising their family in Independence, MO. Together they raised their daughters Rita (Kevin), Lisa (Christopher), and sons Roger (Diana), and Nicholas (Lorie). She was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Theresa’s love also extended to her daughter-in-law Diana’s two children and their families. Theresa spent the final 10 years of her working career at Lake City Ammunition plant. After retiring, she and Raymond enjoyed traveling throughout the country and abroad. They loved following their favorite sport of boxing and she was always thrilled to meet some of her favorite celebrities during these events. Theresa was an excellent cook and learned how to make many family favorites from her mother. We all loved her tamales, mole, menudo, tacos, and enchiladas. Aunt Teddy, as she was affectionately known by her nieces and nephews, was a self-taught quilter and shared her love of the hobby by gifting her quilts. She was blessed with the Segura voice that came in handy when cheering for her favorite teams including the Royals, Chiefs and T-Bones. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Cora Castro, Alfred Segura, Henry Segura, David Segura, Anthony (Tony) Segura, Joseph Segura, Raymond Segura and Mary Lou Reyes. She is survived by her husband Raymond, her children, and her brother Albert Segura. Her giving spirit, joy of learning, and sense of humor will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14th at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Nativity of Mary Parish, 10021 E. 36th Terrace S, Independence, MO. Lunch will immediately follow mass. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, 2301 S. 34th St, Kansas City, KS.
