Victoria Blanca Hernandez, 39, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on February 28, 2026 at her home. She was born on July 17, 1986 in Kansas City, the daughter of Delia Marin. She graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 2004. From the time she was just two weeks old, Vicky fought medical battles that shaped her entire life. She underwent kidney surgery as a newborn, endured years of infections and additional surgeries, and as a teenager was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis — a chronic and excruciating condition with no cure. Her life was marked by constant procedures, complications, and persistent pain. Living with an incurable chronic illness affects every part of a person’s quality of life. Physical suffering often brings emotional suffering as well. Vicky was open about her depression and mental health struggles, and she believed deeply that people needed to understand the connection between chronic pain and mental health. She was never ashamed of her journey — she wanted awareness, compassion, and better support for others walking similar paths. In her final days, she was proudly finishing a book titled Mental Health Crisis Guidebook for First Responders & Caregivers. She was excited about creating something meaningful that could help others better understand those in crisis. If Vicky’s story resonates with you, please let it be a reminder to show compassion to those living with invisible illnesses and mental health struggles. She found her greatest happiness in being a devoted dog mom to her beloved Chula and Luna, who were truly her pride and joy. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Roberto A. Marin, and her cherished dog, Luna. She leaves behind her loving mother, Delia Marin; her brother and sister, Ismael and Mariza; her grandmother, Delia Marin; and her precious Chula. Also leaving behind, her father Ariel Fuentes; and her brothers Ariel Fuentes, Axel Fuentes, and Christian Fuentes. She is also lovingly remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members who will hold her memory close to their hearts. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Maple Hill Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 6, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
