Wanda Alberta Hewitt, 89, of Kansas City, Kansas, formerly of Springfield, Missouri went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Providence Medical Center, surrounded by family. Born on May 14, 1934, in Buffalo, Missouri, Alberta, the daughter of Albert and Natoma (Beck) Sprague, entered a lineage deeply rooted in Pentecostal ministers. Growing up, her life revolved around the Bible, church, and the profound teachings of God. Her unwavering faith served as the guiding force in her life. On May 10, 1954, in Olathe, Kansas, Alberta was united in marriage to Rex L. Hewitt. Their family blossomed in Kansas City, Kansas, where Alberta became one of the pioneering employees at IBM computers. In 1972, the couple relocated to Springfield, Missouri, marking the beginning of a new chapter. Side by side, Alberta and Rex ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing their first business, Hewitt Water Well Drilling. Over the years, they forged connections with numerous families and businesses, leaving an indelible mark on their community. Alberta, with her innate talent for home decoration and contracting, extended her skills to a construction contracting business they managed. Retirement in 2000 marked the culmination of 28 successful years in business together. Alberta's culinary prowess was evident in her diverse cooking abilities, with a particular flair for crafting exceptional casseroles. She had a fondness for growing pansies as they would flourish year round. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Alberta's warmth and love touched the lives of those around her. Her passing leaves a void that will be keenly felt by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her soulmate of 69 years, Rex Hewitt of Kansas City, Kansas; daughter, Alexa Martin and husband Wendell of Rogersville, Missouri; grandchildren, Robert, Daniel, and Benjamin; great grandson, Sully; brother-in-law, Jerry Hewitt and Patsy Egan; niece, Kimberly Walker; and nephew, Martin T.
